There was no room on the lower floors at Cowley Street, so Josh installed a new unvented cylinder in the loft, on a strengthened platform spread across several joists to carry the weight when full. The discharge pipe was the tricky part. It had to fall continuously, so he ran it in copper along the eaves and out to a hopper on the rear wall, within the length allowed for its size. An insulated cold main and new hot draw-offs came down through the existing boxing. A drip tray with its own drain went under the cylinder in case of any leak.
