In its place he installed a Viessmann Vitodens 100 combi and a new wet heating system, with radiators sized room by room from a heat loss calculation. The pipework was run in 15mm and 22mm copper under the floorboards, with the old ducting sealed off in the ceiling voids and the floor grilles removed. The boiler went on the kitchen wall where the old unit had been, with a horizontal flue out of the back. Once the system was filled and flushed, he dosed it with inhibitor. He then set up the controls and talked through the new thermostat.
